Summary of Duties:
The Karting Operations Manager (KOM) is responsible for kart rental operations.
KOM delivers exceptional karting guest experiences through processes and practices consistently executed by a well-trained and customer focused seasonal staff.
The key to success is understanding and controlling factors that impact the guest experience including, but not limited to, safety of operations, appearance of facility and personnel, operation of karts, adherence to schedule, and staff behavior and training.
The KOM works closely with the Vehicle / Equipment Technician and Karting Mechanics to ensure karts are well-maintained, safe, and will provide consistent operation and performance.
The KOM works closely with the Operations department in the preparation and execution of Kart Racing events and programs.
Reporting Relationship:
The Karting Operations Manager reports to the Operations Director and works with all other PIRC departments.
The KOM supervises all Karting employees.
Working Conditions:
The work environment includes both office and outdoor environments.
Exposure to inclement weather conditions and noisy environments is to be expected.
Responsibilities:
PIRC personnel work as a supportive and interdependent team.
These responsibilities are intended as a general illustration of the work performed in this job classification and are not all inclusive.
Other duties will be assigned and a willingness to assist other PIRC roles is a requirement.
The KOM will serve as Manager-On-Duty (MOD), when needed.
Promote and facilitate a culture based on reputation, respect, integrity, and dependability.
Ensure PA Department of Agriculture requirements are met.
Ensure all aspects of karting rental operations are conducted in a safe manner.
Hire, train, motivate, and oversee seasonal employees.
Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the karting areas, including buildings and track.
Ensure track safety equipment and flags are in proper locations and in good condition.
Ensure radios, cones, transponders, and other necessary equipment are in place for kart rentals and corporate events.
Routinely check track, fencing, tire wall, barrier, pit, paddock, and curbing for damage and report damage to the Facility Operations Manager for repair.
Document and report all kart malfunctions, including substandard performance, to Mechanics Department.
Ensure staff scheduling is sufficient for planned activities.
Understand and train the ClubSpeed system to ensure proper use by employees.
Ensure ClubSpeed reports are complete, accurate, and distributed as required.
Oversee and ensure the completion of cash register operations, including opening and closing the till, balancing the till, tracking coupons and gift cards, and completing deposits.
Ensure that all rental equipment is well-prepared, clean, and ready in a timely manner.
Collaborate in marketing campaigns, trade shows, on-site media, and social media to benefit karting programs, leagues, and sponsorships.
Become familiar with the facility's Emergency Action Plan.
Properly utilize all required personal protective equipment.
Be familiar with the facility-wide Pitt Race calendar of events and facility offerings.
Immediately address any poor guest experiences, including any actions and/or training implementation necessary to prevent recurrence.
Requirements:
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to objectively analyze situations and formulate creative solutions.
Computer experience, including MS Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time and lift at least 50 lbs.
Available to work long hours and weekends with a flexible schedule.
Ability to calmly react in challenging situations and function well in a stressful environment.
Occasional travel to promote the track.
Broad knowledge of automotive, motorcycle, and motorsports industry is helpful.
Understanding basic mechanics is helpful.
Valid driver's license.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
